Plant-Based Cheese OATzarella Taking the World by Storm as One of the Most Trending Dairy-Free Food Options in the United States

McLean, VA – Plant-based cheese OATzarella is one of the most up-and-coming and trending dairy-free food options in America.  The product was recently hailed as one of the top 9 foods at the Winter Fancy Foods show in San Francisco.

OATzarella is an organic plant-based cheese, hand crafted using domestic steel cut oats and Ancient Foods brand extra virgin olive oil, imported from the mountains of Greece.  The cheese is free of the world’s top-8 allergens and can be eaten with favorite foods or on its own.  The product is manufactured by Virginia-based Rucksack Foods.

“At Rucksack Foods, we have found many are choosing a dairy-free lifestyle, either for health, allergy, or sustainable and ethical reasons,” says Rucksack Foods Executive Chef and Chief of Product Development, Claudio Pirollo.  “Those who choose dairy-free have suffered with cheese alternatives that do not melt, have low quality oils, are not organic, and do not taste or act like real cheese.  With OATzarella, we have addressed all of these key concerns.”

Though many companies have been creating vegan and dairy-free food alternatives over the past number of years, few have received the recognition OATzarella has in recent weeks.

In a recent Tweet, Rucksack Foods received recognition at the Specialty Food Association Winter Fancy Foods Show.  KeHE, one of the largest food distributors in the United States, evaluated products and listed their top 9 products, OATzarella being one of them.  Additionally, the New Hope Network listed OATzarella as one of the “9 plant-based products that rocked the Winter Fancy Food Show.”

The recognition, however, didn’t stop there.  A Mercury News food writer cited OATzarella as a major food trend at the show, and cited the food as their example in 6 Hot New Food Trends Unveiled at San Francisco’s 2020 Winter Fancy Food Show.

“We are so proud to have developed OATzarella, the first oat milk and extra virgin olive oil based cheese,” states Pirollo.  “The launch and recognition at Fancy Foods and Mercury News has surpassed our wildest expectations.  We couldn’t be happier with our product and look forward to developing healthy and tasty dairy-free alternatives into the future.”
