Hotels at Sea® partners with International Polo Tour® World Cup’s season-opening match and commemorates the reopening of cruising with a 10-night VIP Valentine’s Day land and sea adventure to the Galapagos Islands.

Miami, Florida – November 30, 2020 – The International Polo Tour® is celebrating an unprecedented and undefeated year for the US Polo Team! After capturing 2 USPA National Championships and 2 World Championships, the Polo team is now preparing to head to the World Cup in Quito, Ecuador to play at La Palma Polo Club for the IPT sanctioned World Cup during Valentine’s Weekend in 2021. This World Cup match will be part of an all-inclusive Valentine’s Day Galapagos cruise by Hotels at Sea® onboard Celebrity Cruises® newest ship “Flora” specifically designed for the Galapagos Islands.

The International Polo Tour® (IPT) has awarded Quito, Ecuador as the new home for the official annual opening match for their World Cup series, which will open the IPT’s 2021 season on February 13, 2021. The first game will be played between the Tour’s U.S. team and the La Palma Quito polo team.

This year’s spectacular VIP soiree will celebrate the return of cruises worldwide, highlighting Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands and will mark the country’s first IPT event. Along with the IPT and its tourism partners, the luxury cruise lines are the main luxury travel partners supporting the tourism efforts to commemorate their return of cruising to the Galapagos Islands.

“The International Polo Tour is thrilled to launch its 2021 season in Quito, Ecuador,” said Tareq Salahi, captain of the International Polo Tour’s U.S. team by Celebrity Cruises and Chairman of the Board of Hotels at Sea. “Quito & the Galapagos Islands offers extraordinary beauty, an incredibly rich cultural experience, and breathtaking natural landscapes that are an ideal setting for our sport.”

The ship chosen for the 10-night, VIP, all-inclusive land and cruise package is the award-winning Celebrity FloraSM by Celebrity Cruises, which will set sail to the Galapagos Islands on Valentine’s Day. This will be an immersive eight-day, seven-night cruise, with two days of VIP events before setting sail to include VIP tickets to the World Cup polo match featuring the Celebrity Cruises Polo Team, and a welcome celebration VIP dinner and cocktail party at the JW Marriott hotel. Then, after the 7-night luxury cruise, there will be a farewell VIP dinner back at the JW Marriott Hotel.

With the holidays coming up, our curated VIP Galapagos cruise is the perfect Christmas gift to surprise a loved one with a romantic getaway and while we do offer these cruises weekly, we are proud to announce this VIP Polo & Galapagos program will become an annual event,” said Tareq Salahi, Chairman of the Board for Hotels at Sea®.

The Celebrity Flora was specially built for the Galapagos Islands and is the first ship of its kind. Inspired by the island’s breathtaking beauty, the 100-passenger all-suite mega-yacht — which will run at reduced capacity — features outward-facing concepts including an open-air dining venue to ensure that the destination remains the center of attention during the sailing for a continuous feeling of total immersion.

On-board the all-inclusive cruise, one can enjoy menus crafted by a Michelin-starred chef, unlimited beverages, Wi-Fi, room service, and more. For once-in a-alifetime experiences off the ship, one’ll have the use of snorkeling equipment and wetsuits, and enjoy excursions led by Galapagos National Park-certified naturalists for an unforgettable experience including use of the onboard science lab.

One of the most eco-friendly ships in the world, Celebrity Flora was named the Best Overall Cruise Ship in 2019 and has garnered Travel Weekly’s Magellan Awards Small Ship Gold Award for three consecutive years.

And it all begins in Quito.

Ecuador pioneered the resumption of commercial flights to the region on June 1st of 2020 and, as of August 15, international arrivals to Ecuador with negative PCR results are no longer required to self-isolate.

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has ranked Quito as a Top 11 preferred city in South America for hosting international events. The city moved up from its Number 12 ranking in 2018 to Number 11 in 2019, further enforcing its positioning as a global tourism destination for the MICE industry.
